FAQs - KB DRIVING SCHOOL

Q&A

We’re here to assist—FAQ has the answers.

  • q:Are the course lessons enough?

a: As required by the Ministry of Transportation, you must complete 10 hours of in-vehicle training to be eligible for certification. Many students find this sufficient, but everyone learns at a different pace. Your instructor will let you know if more practice is needed. If you feel 10 hours aren’t enough, we offer additional individual lessons and practice packages.

  • q:Can I start the course before I have my G1?

a: Yes! You may begin the in-class or online theory portion without a G1. Once you obtain your G1, you can begin your in-car lessons. Just be sure to leave yourself enough time, since all course requirements must be finished within one year.

  • q:Can I join the course at any time?

a: Yes — you can start on any weekday or weekend. The online theory portion may be started any time, while in-class sessions run on a set schedule. Check our course schedule or contact us for dates.

  • q:Do I have to finish theory before in-car training?

a: Yes — the Ministry of Transportation requires that the theory (in-class or online) be completed before you begin your in-car lessons.

  • q:How soon can I take my G2 road test?

a: If you complete a Ministry-approved course, you'll be eligible for your G2 8 months after your G1 issue date. Without the course, you typically must wait a full year. The full course includes 20 hours of theory, 10 hours of home study, and 10 hours of in-car training.

  • q:Is there a payment plan?

a:Yes — we offer flexible installment plans. However, the full balance must be paid before beginning your in-car lessons. Many students pay half at the start of the theory portion and the rest before driving lessons begin.

  • q:Does the course expire?

a:Yes — you must complete the full course (theory, home study, in-vehicle) within one year.

  • q:What if I don’t like my instructor?

a:Your comfort and learning experience matter most. If you feel your instructor isn’t the right fit, you can request a different instructor at any time. Our goal is to make your learning stress-free, confident, and effective.

  • q:How fast can I complete online course?

a:We offer flexible online/e-learning options, so you can complete the course at your own pace.

  • q:What does the full course include?

    a: • 20 hours of theory (online) • 10 hours of home study / flexible instruction • 10 hours of in-vehicle training

  • q:How soon can I start my driving lessons after completing the theory course?

a:If you hold a G1, you may begin in-car training at any time (after completing online course). Just remember: the entire program must be completed within one year.

  • q:Can I get a discount on my insurance with the certificate?

a:Yes, new drivers who complete the Beginner Driver Education (BDE) course may be eligible for an insurance discount. The discount amount depends on several factors such as your location, car make and model, vehicle age, and your insurance provider’s policies. Once your certification is processed, your course completion will be recorded on your Driver’s License History (DLH). This DLH serves as official proof that you’ve successfully completed an MTO-approved BDE course and is widely recognized by insurance companies. You can pick up your DLH from any ServiceOntario location or order it online once it’s available.

  • q:When will I receive my certificate?

a:Once you finish all required hours (online, theory, home study, in-car), we process your certification and it takes about 2 weeks, and it’s added to your DLH. You may check with our office to confirm it's processed before visiting ServiceOntario.

  • q:Do you offer pick-up and drop-off?

a:Yes. We provide free pick-up and drop-off within our service area (unless you live in a restricted zone). If you’re outside our zone, we’ll arrange a meeting point with your instructor.

  • q:Can I use my instructor’s car for the road test?

a:Yes (for an extra fee per test). This includes a one-hour lesson on the test day. We recommend using your instructor’s car because you're already familiar with it — and the roof sign helps identify the vehicle during the test.

  • q:How do I book a road test?

a: • Visit DriveTest.ca or call 1-888-570-6110. • If you purchase a road test in your package, your instructor can help you book it.

  • q:What is your refund policy for BDE Course?

a: You may request a full refund within 7 days of purchase (minus a non-refundable $50 registration fee). Once the student creates the account to start the course, no refunds are available. You have one year to complete the course once started.

  • q:What is your refund policy for G or G2 Packages?

a: You may request a full refund within 7 days of purchase. However, once the lessons have started, if the student decides not to continue, the lessons already completed will be charged at the regular hourly rate, and the remaining balance will be refunded. All purchased lessons must be completed within 6 months from the date of enrollment.

  • q:What is your refund policy for other services?

a: There is no refund for other services once purchased.

  • q:What is your cancellation policy?

a: You must notify your instructor at least 24 hours before a lesson to avoid a $40/HR late cancellation or no-show fee.
